Cattleya violacea ('H&R' x 'H&R Giant') - Plant photo by Richard LindbergThe genus Cattleya (C) contains quite a few species from tropical South America. They do best in a medium that has good drainage and dry between watering. Give them a short dryer rest after blooming.

Cattleya violacea grows throughout eastern South America near streams in tropical forests. It is warm to hot growing, fragrant and blooms in spring and summer. Give it very bright light.
