They do best in a medium that has good drainage and dry between watering. Give them a short dryer rest after blooming.

Cattleya aurantiaca grows in Mexico and El Salvador in rain forests. It is cool to warm growing and blooms in winter and spring.

This plant is in sphagnum over peanuts in a 44-inch clay pot. There are five pseudobulbs and stands eleven inches above the pot. It is double-potted in a 5 1/2-inch clay pot.
