The genus Cattleya (C) contains quite a few species from tropical South America. They do best in a medium that has good drainage and dry between watering. Give them a short dryer rest after blooming.
Cattleya lueddemanniana grows on the northern coast of Venezuela. It is fragrant, warm to hot growing and needs bright light. It blooms in summer or fall.
This plant is in sphagnum over peanuts in a 4 1/2 clay pot. There are two pseudobulbs and a new growth and the plant stands 10 inches above the pot.
