Cattleya bicolor 'Mendenhall-beta' (4N x self)
The genus Cattleya (C) contains quite a few species from tropical South America. They do best in a medium that has good drainage and dry between watering. Give them a short dryer rest after blooming.
Cattleya bicolor grows in Brazil. It is fragrant, cool to warm growing and blooms in spring.
This plant is potted in sphagnum in a 3 1/2-inch clay pot. There are four pseudobulbs but is still seedling sized, standing only four inches above the pot.
