Cattleya trianaei grows in Colombia and is the national flower. It is cool to hot growing, fragrant, needs bright light and blooms in winter. The genus Cattleya (C) contains quite a few species from tropical South America. They do best in a medium that has good drainage and dry between watering. Give them a short dryer rest after blooming.
